Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS)

HazCom + GHS:

In 2012, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) aligned the Hazard Communications Standard (HazCom) with the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).

As of June 2015, United States chemical manufacturers are required to classify and label their products in accordance with the new HazCom requirements, and provide 16 section format Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to downstream users. Future implementation deadline dates affect distributors, workplace-specific written HazCom Programs, training and labeling.
